Environmental Assessment - Ask Vinny

Dear Vinny,

As a landowner, do you recommend getting an environmental assessment of my property? I inherited this land, and to my knowledge, there hasn't been an environmental assessment. I'm not planning on selling anytime soon, but I'd like to know if there are benefits to getting it assessed now.

Dear Phase 1,

If there are things that warrant an environmental assessment, like old dumps, sheep dip tanks, underground fuel tanks, etc., I would recommend hiring a company to do a Phase 1 to prevent any future issues when it comes time to sell. If your property is clean and you don't see any obvious signs of environmental impacts, I wouldn't recommend spending the money on an assessment.
